Other Brands We Use and Sell
Romany Classic, 50/50, White/White/Spring Green
The Romany started it all in 1992, and remains one of the standards for the new ‘shaped ski’ 16 ft do-a-bit-of-it-all. It has again received a Sea Kayaker Magazine Readers Choice award. Its cockpit remains one of the best in the industry offering large area of thigh contact which increases our confidence, while having the keyhole for ease of exit in a rescue. This one has a custom front bulkhead for paddlers wanting the security, safety and comfort of a foamed over composite bulkhead vs pegs, the new seat, MIKCo’s skeg choice and the extreme durability of the expedition layup hull, deck and bulkheads, but with the beauty, stiffness and weight savings of Carbon/Kevlar deck, seat and bulkheads. The Spring Green 6018 trim color is very sharp looking, cheerful, with good visibility.
Brady Bunch Skiff
The Brady Bunch can get your large family (or heavy gear) there and back again, whether your destination be your mooring or your favorite beach across the bay. The thole pins are used with recycled rope grommets (provided) to hold the oars securely- 8′ oars recommended. The wide flat bottom provides ample initial stability, while the generous rocker, side flare, and fore and aft overhangs give the Brady Bunch a seaworthiness not found in modern production dinghies. Built with durability, comfort, and capacity in mind, this hard working little rowboat can get it all done.
Explorer, Standard, Black/Yellow/Black
The EXPLORER is certainly one of the standards for the modern expedition sea kayak, used by more professional paddlers than perhaps any other model kayak. With its added length it offers longer glide while journeying, greater capacity for multi-days, faster acceleration when in the large tide races. It has Nigel’s extremely reassuring secondary stability. Its volume has carried many of us for month long expeditions even in the Antarctic. Nigel’s super comfortable keyhole cockpit maximizes contact with the paddler’s thighs which increases control, enhances stroke power and generates high confidence in the larger jobbly rough waters. This boat has the new adjustable performance seat and MIKCo’s choice of skeg. It has again received a Readers Choice award from Sea Kayaker Magazine. Come on up and demo for an hour or a weekend and see what you think!
This particular boat is laid up in Nigel’s expedtion tough hull, deck and bulkheads, so is an honest 20 year boat under normal use. All black looks great! Its custom front bulkhead increases storage space, reduces water in an emergency and provides completely positive foot contact with a custom foam bulkhead.
Used Outer Island Woodstrip Kayak
Designed by Jay Babina for performance, rolling ability, low windage and speed. It’s a low volume strip-built, West Greenland style for intermediate to advanced paddlers. Beam is 21″, length 18′. This build has mahogany inserts around the excellent kayak sport hatches, day hatch, triple bulkheads and a beautiful carbon composite cockpit rim. As I recall, its covered in a 6 and 8 oz cloth so is as strong as any boat. It’s had very few days in the water, is mostly stored inside, and is nearly scratchless.
